UNDP Support Creates 146 Jobs in Herat’s Khatam Al-Anbiya District

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has announced that several economic initiatives supported by the agency in the Khatam Al-Anbiya district of Herat province have resulted in the creation of 146 job opportunities and strengthened family livelihoods.
According to the agency, women’s savings groups established with UNDP’s assistance have been able to launch a sewing workshop. This workshop provides work for 16 women and generates a monthly income of 112,000 Afghanis.
The UNDP added that alongside this workshop, other support projects have been implemented in the area, which, in addition to creating jobs, have helped protect nearly one thousand jeribs of agricultural land.
The agency stated that the aim of such programs is to strengthen the local economy, increase women’s participation in income-generating activities, and support the agricultural sector in vulnerable regions. Herat province, located in western Afghanistan, is among the provinces where a significant portion of the population depends on agriculture and small industries.
