Chinese Media Highlights Stark Contrast Between Putin and Trump’s Visits to Beijing

Amid the official visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to China, the South China Morning Post reported a clear difference between this trip and the recent visit of US President Donald Trump to Beijing. The newspaper described the nature of the reception and the level of meetings as reflecting a significant disparity in the quality of diplomatic relations between China and Moscow compared to Washington.
According to the report, Beijing has arranged an extensive program with high-level official meetings for Putin’s 25th visit to China, demonstrating the depth of political contacts between the two countries. The newspaper noted that the number and level of bilateral meetings between Chinese and Russian officials far surpass the usual interactions between Beijing and Washington.
The South China Morning Post also pointed to the ongoing strategic communications between China and Russia, stating that the two countries regularly engage in discussions on defense and security matters. These collaborations are seen as part of the framework of close political and regional relations between the two sides.
The report further stated that the differences are not limited to the level of meetings but also extend to their outcomes. While many sessions between China and the US conclude without issuing a joint statement, the meetings between Xi Jinping and Putin regularly result in joint communiqués, reflecting greater coordination between the two countries on regional and international issues.
