Kabul Residents Complain of Widespread Bribery in Taliban-Run Traffic Department

Residents of Kabul have voiced complaints about widespread bribery and obstruction within the Traffic Department under Taliban administration, alleging that no documents are issued without unofficial payments.
On Wednesday, 23rd of Sawr, several citizens stated that some employees deliberately delay the processing of vehicle documents and coerce applicants into paying bribes. They claim that even routine administrative services are not provided without additional fees.
According to these residents, in some cases, vehicle chassis numbers are incorrectly recorded, and employees then demand money to correct the errors. This practice reportedly causes wasted time, extra expenses, and confusion among the public.
Some citizens criticized the Taliban administration’s performance, emphasizing that bribery has become a normalized practice in institutions under their control, permeating the entire administrative system from A to Z. Previous reports had also highlighted public grievances about rising administrative corruption and difficulties in document processing across various agencies—issues that have raised serious questions about transparency and accountability within the current structures.
