Tajikistan Expels 250 Afghan Families Citing Legal Violations and National Security

The State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan announced that 250 Afghan immigrant families have been expelled from the country due to what it described as “legal violations.” Authorities said the move was carried out within the framework of enforcing domestic laws and aimed at ensuring national security.
According to the released information, some of the individuals detained faced charges including drug trafficking, use of forged documents, and membership in illegal groups. These individuals were deported from Tajikistan after undergoing preliminary investigation procedures.
Tajik officials have not disclosed further details regarding the exact number of detainees among these families or the specifics of the case review process. However, they emphasized that these measures were taken to maintain public order and national security.
Meanwhile, some human rights organizations have expressed concerns over the humanitarian impact of these expulsions, calling for greater transparency in the review process and respect for migrants’ rights. They stressed the need to pay special attention to the conditions of families, especially women and children, during the forced returns.
