Taliban’s Acting Communications Minister Emphasizes Merit-Based Appointments Over Ethnicity

Abdullah Fadli, acting head of the Taliban’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, stated that the advancement of work within the ministry is based on expertise, experience, knowledge, and administrative compliance—not on language, ethnicity, or personal connections.
He made these remarks today during a meeting with deputies and heads of several departments of the ministry, stressing that the main criteria for accelerating and enhancing the effectiveness of work are professional commitment and coordination among different sectors.
According to a statement released by the Ministry of Communications, Fadli highlighted the role and importance of the key departments and divisions within the ministry, adding that all sections must carry out their duties within a coordinated and collaborative environment.
These statements come amid ongoing debates since the Taliban’s return to power regarding the selection and appointment processes in government offices, with many citizens emphasizing transparency and adherence to professional standards in hiring.
