Lightning and Storm in Nangarhar Kill Two, Injure Three

Local officials in Nangarhar province report that a severe lightning strike and storm have resulted in the deaths of two people, including a child, and injured three others. Heavy rains in some areas have also caused damage to agricultural lands.

Sadiqullah Qureshi, head of the Information Department of Nangarhar’s Culture and Information Directorate, stated that after noon yesterday in the Pas-deh area of the Mohmand Dara district, lightning struck a residential home, killing a child and injuring a woman along with two other children.

He added that simultaneously, in the Farm-e-Som area of Batikot district, a severe storm caused a tree to fall on a woman, resulting in her death.

Officials also noted that heavy rains in the Kot district caused damage to farmlands. So far, no further details on the exact extent of these damages have been released.
