Kandahar Signs New Export Agreements with Three Chinese Provinces

Officials from the Kandahar Chamber of Commerce and Investment announced that they have signed agreements with trading centers in three Chinese provinces to expand the export of dried and fresh fruits, medicinal plants, and minerals, as well as to develop joint commercial cooperation. According to them, these agreements will pave the way for greater presence of Kandahar products in Chinese markets.

Based on the information provided, the Chinese side has also expressed interest in investing in the dried fruit sector and mineral extraction in Kandahar. This southern Afghan province is considered one of the key producers of dried fruits and also has significant mineral reserves.

Abdulahid Siddiqui, head of the Kandahar Chamber of Commerce and Investment, stated that dried fruit and medicinal plant exports to China have been conducted previously, but current discussions focus on meeting the required standards of the Chinese market. He added that efforts will be made to ensure that future exports adhere to these established criteria.

Several traders in Kandahar view expanding trade relations with regional countries and boosting exports as vital for the country’s economic growth.

Earlier, Iranian officials announced their readiness for joint investment in semi-precious stones in Rukham and the cotton sector in Helmand Province; a move that, if realized, could impact regional economic cooperation.
