Jewelry Workshop Empowers 50 Women in Badakhshan with Skills and Economic Opportunity

A female entrepreneur in Faizabad, the capital of Badakhshan province, has established a workshop for making beads and jewelry that provides work and professional training opportunities for about 50 women and girls. The workshop officials say the main goal is to strengthen women’s technical skills and help them achieve economic self-sufficiency.

According to the workshop manager, the women participating in the program learn how to craft various handmade jewelry through practical work. After completing the training course, they can operate independently. Most of these women receive the necessary training with the support of a supporting organization.

She emphasizes that despite women’s enthusiasm for work and production, the lack of suitable exhibitions and sales markets remains a fundamental challenge for them. In her view, holding regular exhibitions and creating marketing opportunities could significantly improve the sales of women’s handmade products.

While job opportunities for women in many areas have become limited following recent political developments, such initiatives can play an important role in maintaining women’s economic participation in society. However, activists in this field say that for these types of initiatives to continue, practical support and the provision of sales markets are critical needs.
