Life-Saving Health Services Reach Remote Areas of Paghman District

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has announced that life-saving health services, supported by the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund and financially backed by the European Union’s humanitarian aid department, have reached residents of remote areas in Paghman district.

According to the announcement, these services specifically target communities that previously had limited or difficult access to health centers. Women and children are among the groups benefiting the most from these programs.

OCHA described access to health services as a “lifeline” for the people and stressed that continued international financial support is essential to maintain and expand these services in deprived areas.

Located west of Kabul, Paghman district includes some villages that, due to geographic distance and lack of facilities, have faced serious challenges in accessing health services. Humanitarian organizations are working to bridge this gap through mobile programs and by strengthening local health centers.
