Pakistani Source Optimistic About Success of Second Round of Tehran-Washington Talks

Reuters, citing a Pakistani source, has reported that preparations are underway for the second round of negotiations between Tehran and Washington, scheduled for Wednesday. According to this source, who was involved in the previous round of talks, the consultations are progressing as planned and are considered to be moving forward.

The anonymous source emphasized that if an agreement is reached, U.S. President Donald Trump may participate in the signing process either in person or virtually. However, no further details have been disclosed regarding the potential level of agreement or the main focuses of the negotiations.

Meanwhile, U.S. officials have stated that Vice President JD Vance is expected to travel to Islamabad for fresh talks with officials from the Islamic Republic of Iran. Islamabad had previously hosted the first round of these negotiations.

In contrast, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly and head of the Iranian delegation in the first round, noted that negotiations “under the shadow of threat” are unacceptable. He also mentioned readiness to use “new cards.”

These developments occur despite no official announcement from Tehran confirming its readiness to engage in the new round of talks, and the political atmosphere surrounding these discussions remains cautious and marked by mutual positioning.
