US Department of Defense Reviews Over 9 Million Documents on Afghanistan Withdrawal

The United States Department of Defense announced that the special committee reviewing the withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan has completed examining more than 9 million related documents after conducting interviews with senior military and civilian officials.

According to the department, this committee was established by the order of US President Donald Trump to comprehensively assess the process of American troop withdrawal in 2021. The members of the committee have held talks with key figures involved in decision-making and execution of the withdrawal process.

The Department of Defense emphasized that the scope of this review is broader than previous evaluations, aiming to produce the most transparent report possible on the events of August 2021. These events coincided with the collapse of the former Afghan government and the return of the Taliban administration to power.

The withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan is considered one of the most significant political and military developments of 2021, and its consequences continue to be discussed at regional and international levels.
