Washington Military Strategy Falters; Agreement Reached on Iran’s Proposed Terms

Donald Trump, President of the United States, announced that he has agreed to a two-week halt on military attacks against Iran, a move he described as part of a mutual ceasefire. He claimed that this decision was made to pave the way for a final peace agreement.

Trump asserted that the United States has already achieved its targeted military objectives and that talks are progressing toward a “long-term” peace with Iran as well as stability in the Middle East. He also stated that they have received a ten-point proposal from Iran, which could serve as an acceptable basis for negotiations.

The U.S. president added that, in his view, much of the previous disagreements between the two countries have been resolved, and the two-week ceasefire will provide an opportunity to finalize the details of the ultimate agreement. He described this development as an important step toward resolving a longstanding conflict.

Meanwhile, Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan, welcomed the ceasefire agreement in a statement, calling it a positive move. He announced that the ceasefire will be implemented immediately and across all relevant areas.

The Pakistani Prime Minister, expressing gratitude to the leaders of both nations, invited the Iranian and U.S. delegations to meet on Friday, April 10, 2026, in Islamabad to discuss reaching a more comprehensive agreement. He expressed hope that the “Islamabad Talks” would lead to lasting peace and help reduce tensions in the region.
