Over 2,200 Afghan Migrants Return in One Day Amid Ongoing Expulsions from Pakistan and Iran

The Commission for Addressing Migrant Issues, affiliated with the Taliban administration, has announced that the expulsion of Afghan migrants from Pakistan and Iran continues, with 2,241 individuals returning to the country in just one day on Sunday, 16 Hamal (April 5).
According to the provided statistics, 1,988 people were expelled from Pakistan and 253 from Iran, entering Afghanistan through official border crossings. These individuals arrived via the Torkham crossing in Nangarhar province, Spin Boldak in Kandahar, Islam Qala in Herat, and the Silk Bridge in Nimroz.
The commission stated that after about a month-long pause, Pakistan has recently reopened its border crossings solely for the expulsion of migrants. Currently, these border points remain closed to all other crossings.
This ongoing expulsion occurs amid numerous returnees facing economic hardships and a lack of basic facilities within the country. Given the difficult living conditions, it is expected that the Taliban administration will implement clear and practical programs to accommodate and support these families.
