Iranian Revolutionary Guard Shoots Down U.S. MQ-9 Drone over Isfahan

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced that its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed a U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drone over the skies of Isfahan.

Tasnim News Agency, citing the IRGC, reported that the drone was targeted using “advanced air defense systems.” According to the report, the value of the drone is estimated at around $30 million.

The MQ-9 Reaper is one of the advanced unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) manufactured by the United States, commonly used for reconnaissance and operational missions. So far, no further details have been released regarding how the incident occurred or any official response from U.S. authorities.
