Jordanian Military Thwarts Armed Group’s Infiltration Near Syrian Border

The Jordanian army announced that it has stopped an armed group’s attempt to infiltrate into Jordan following an exchange of fire with the group in the border areas between the two countries. As a result of this clash, 14 members of the armed group were killed.

Earlier, the Jordanian Air Force had conducted an operation in southern Syria targeting hideouts of designated terrorist groups. This strike was in response to the killing of Jordanian forces in an attack on the Hammoud Church in the city of Karak.

However, the Health Directorate in Syria’s Daraa province reported that the airstrike killed 10 people, including six civilian men, three women, and one child, and injured four others. Additionally, the self-declared Jolani group in Syria condemned Jordan’s military operation as illegal, citing a lack of coordination with the Damascus government.

These events highlight rising tensions in the border areas between Syria and Jordan, resulting in adverse consequences for the local residents.
