Acting Ministry Chief Urges Staff to Avoid Ethnic Bias and Observe Office Discipline

Sheikh Mohammad Khalid Hanafi, the acting minister for the Taliban-run Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, said at a meeting that the ministry’s employees must avoid any ethnic, linguistic or personal bias in carrying out their duties and arrive at work on time.

He also called for professional and Islamic treatment of the public and timely attention to their problems, saying that discipline and accountability are among the ministry’s key principles.

The remarks come as the ministry had previously held meetings aimed at improving administrative discipline, preventing wrongdoing, strengthening accountability and raising the quality of services to the public.

Despite repeated emphasis, concerns have been raised about the persistence of some inconsistencies and biases in the ministry’s administrative performance, which could have a negative impact on service delivery to the public.
