Neighbours Must Stop Economic Pressure and Oppression of Afghans, Official Says

Noorulhaq Anwar, head of the General Directorate of Affairs, said at a special event marking Afghanistan Red Crescent Week that healthy neighbourly relations should be based on reducing problems and offering assistance, not imposing economic pressure or confrontation.
Without directly naming any country, he added that neighbours are still subjecting the people of Afghanistan to oppression, suppression and economic deprivation.
The remarks come as the Taliban administration continues to face economic restrictions and regional pressure that have a direct impact on people’s livelihoods.
The Afghanistan Red Crescent is marking the week at a time when the needs and problems of the people of Afghanistan are increasing day by day because of external and internal sanctions and restrictions.
