Bus-trailer crash in Kandahar leaves five dead

A collision between a Bus 580 and a trailer truck on the Kabul-Kandahar highway in Daman district of Kandahar province has left five people dead and 16 others injured.

The incident took place around 4:30 a.m. on Thursday in the Azam Qala area of Daman district. Mullah Asadullah Jamshid, spokesman for Kandahar police command, confirmed the incident.

He did not provide further details about how the crash happened or the medical condition of the injured.

At the same time, three people were also killed and injured in another traffic incident in Paktia province. Drivers’ carelessness, failure to follow traffic rules and excessive speed are seen as factors behind the repeated deadly accidents on the country’s highways.
