Saudi Engineer Arrested Over Alleged Spy Device at OpenAI

US media reports say a Saudi engineer working at OpenAI has been arrested on suspicion of trying to eavesdrop on confidential meetings of senior company officials.

According to Arabi 21, the FBI detained the engineer after discovering a recording device in one of OpenAI’s special meeting rooms. The device was reportedly secretly connected to a USB port behind a television.

The California Post identified the detainee as 35-year-old Abdulrahman Al-Fawzan, a Saudi national, and said he has been in federal custody since Friday. The report said the recording device had been wrapped in toilet paper in an apparent attempt to hide it.
