Saudi attacks force oil bosses to cancel Riyadh conference plans

Senior executives from major global oil companies have cancelled plans to attend the Riyadh Energy Conference following attacks and widespread disruption to flights in Saudi Arabia.

The Financial Times reported that executives from ExxonMobil, TotalEnergies, Shell and BP had decided not to take part in the meeting. Security concerns caused by the attacks on Saudi Arabia were cited as one of the main reasons for the cancellations.

Following an attack by Yemeni armed forces on Riyadh airport, dozens of flights were diverted and more than 1,000 flights were cancelled. The situation has caused serious disruption to air travel in Saudi Arabia.

According to published reports, Saudi officials ordered the closure of several airports in the country after the escalation in attacks.
