Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister and PTI provincial chief detained in Pakistan

Following the declaration of an emergency and the imposition of governor’s rule in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, reports say Sohail Afridi, the provincial chief minister, and Junaid Akbar, the provincial president of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, have been detained.

Junaid Akbar confirmed his detention in a message posted on social media and said that both he and Sohail Afridi had been taken into custody.

According to reports, after the emergency and governor’s rule were implemented, restrictions were placed on visits and meetings with Sohail Afridi, and the news of the detention of the two political figures was then announced.
