Taliban envoy in Riyadh meets former Saudi intelligence chief Turki al-Faisal

Abdul Fattah Rahimi, the acting chargé d’affaires of the Taliban administration’s embassy in Riyadh, has met with Turki al-Faisal Al Saud, the former head of Saudi intelligence and president of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies.

According to a statement from the Afghan embassy in Saudi Arabia, the meeting discussed the historical, religious and cultural ties between Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia. The two sides also stressed the importance of strengthening and expanding bilateral relations, the statement said.

The Afghan embassy in Riyadh operates under Taliban administration, and this meeting was also held at the level of the administration’s diplomatic representation. Saudi Arabia is considered one of the region’s important countries in political and religious engagement with Afghanistan.
