Boat Explosion in New York’s Bronx Leaves Four Injured

An explosion on a boat in City Island in New York’s Bronx borough left four people injured. New York City fire officials said the cause of the incident is under investigation.

According to the New York Post, the boat caught fire after the explosion, leaving only a burning hull near the dock. The damaged vessel was reported to be a 30-foot 1999 Sea Ray.

Witnesses said the incident likely occurred shortly after the boat left the dock and refuelled. They said one person was also thrown into the water as a result of the blast.

According to eyewitnesses, the captain of the boat had just filled the tank around 2 p.m. on Saturday local time when the explosion occurred. Two men and two women on board were injured in the incident.

A total of 79 fire and emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene. City Island is a small island east of New York’s Bronx borough, where boat traffic is common because of its coastal location.
