Pakistan Calls for Concrete Actions from Islamic Emirate to Advance Talks with Afghanistan

Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed the United States’ proposal to facilitate dialogue between Islamabad and Kabul, expressing readiness to support Washington’s diplomatic efforts and those of friendly nations. A spokesperson for Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry emphasized that the start of meaningful negotiations with Afghanistan requires a clear commitment and verifiable practical steps from the Islamic Emirate officials to confront armed groups that, according to Islamabad, operate from Afghan soil. The Pakistani official specifically mentioned the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, the Baloch Liberation Army, and several other groups, stating that combating their activities is a key condition for progress in the talks. In response, the Islamic Emirate has denied all these allegations, asserting that no armed groups are present in Afghanistan and that Afghan territory is not used against any country, especially its neighbors. This statement came after Marco Rubio, Acting U.S. Secretary of State, announced Washington’s readiness to reduce tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Pakistan, while emphasizing its support for constructive engagement with Kabul, insists that dialogue must lead to tangible results addressing Islamabad’s security concerns. Meanwhile, the Islamic Emirate considers Pakistan’s security issues its internal matter and has criticized the shifting of responsibility onto Afghanistan.
