Hundreds Dead or Missing After Devastating Nepal Floods

Following floods and landslides in Nepal, the death toll has reached 95 and more than 380 tourists are also missing, raising concerns over a possible rise in casualties and the difficulty of search operations.

Nepal’s tourism authorities said 384 tourists, including 291 foreign nationals and 93 Nepalese citizens, are missing after the floods and landslides in the country.

According to media reports, flash flooding this morning in the Bhote Koshi River in the Rasuwa district caused widespread damage and severe destruction. Local officials have also declared a state of alert in the wake of the incident.

Reuters reported that the number of people killed in the flood has risen to 95. Nepalese media have also confirmed that the number of dead and injured continues to climb.

Rasuwa is one of Nepal’s mountainous regions, and events such as floods and landslides in the country, especially during the rainy season, have a recurring history.
