Kepler says ship traffic in Strait of Hormuz remains low

Kepler said ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz and the main waterways of the Persian Gulf has remained at a low level, despite reports about talks between Iran and Oman.

According to the company’s data, the number of ship movements in the Strait of Hormuz over the past day was lower than the average for the previous 10 days. Kepler works in the field of maritime data analysis and research.

Earlier, Agence France-Presse, citing Kepler statements, reported that the average number of cargo ship voyages had fallen to 10 trips a day. Before the start of US attacks against Iran, that figure had been reported at 95 trips a day.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the region’s key routes for energy and maritime trade, and any decline in ship traffic through the passage affects transport flows in the Persian Gulf.
