Muttaqi urges regional countries to engage with Taliban administration

Amir Khan Muttaqi, acting foreign minister of the Taliban administration, said regional countries have concluded that the Taliban administration will not allow the “goals of foreigners” to be implemented in Afghanistan and the wider region.
According to Tasnim News Agency’s regional office, he made the remarks at a ceremony marking the 107th anniversary of Afghanistan’s independence, claiming that Afghanistan’s security is linked to the security of neighbouring countries and that regional parties should understand this.
Muttaqi also said countries that, in his view, have had “positive engagement” with the Taliban administration have benefited from this approach, while countries that have not engaged in this way have suffered losses. He did not provide details about these gains or losses.
The Taliban administration’s acting foreign minister also claimed that its security and defence forces had been able to neutralise what he called “the plots of enemies” and prevent their actions.
In another part of his remarks, he said the people of Afghanistan “do not accept anyone’s orders” and continue to resist despite pressure. Muttaqi also cited progress in the economic and military sectors as examples of this situation.
Afghanistan’s Independence Day ceremony is held every year on 28 Asad, a day associated with Afghanistan’s independence from Britain and considered one of the country’s official occasions.
