US Officials Acknowledge Heavy Casualties in Iranian Missile Strikes on Jordanian Bases

Leading US media outlets have reported, citing American officials, that multiple Iranian missile attacks on US military bases in Jordan have resulted in the deaths of two American soldiers and injuries to dozens more. Significant damage has also been inflicted on equipment and helicopters used by these forces.

The New York Times reported that several Black Hawk helicopters, each worth millions of dollars, were damaged during these strikes. According to US officials, American forces experienced four separate attacks over five days, causing both casualties and financial losses.

Reports indicate that the first attack targeted a facility at King Faisal Airbase, injuring five US soldiers. In the second strike, a base in eastern Jordan, which houses American helicopters, was targeted. Rockets also hit the Muwaffaq Al-Salti base in the Al-Azraq region, wounding approximately 20 soldiers as they were heading towards shelters.

In another attack on the same base, two American soldiers were killed and four others wounded. CBS News, quoting a US official, confirmed the deaths of the two soldiers at Muwaffaq Al-Salti base. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) also released a statement confirming these casualties.

US officials commented that Iran continues to possess extensive missile stockpiles and that these attacks have demonstrated an increased capability to bypass certain defense systems. Jordan holds a strategic position in US military operations in the region due to hosting important American airbases.

President Donald Trump described the deaths of the two soldiers as “very sad,” adding that witnessing such an event is painful for the United States.
