Taliban Authorities Seize Thousands of Ammunition Rounds in Paktia Province

The Taliban’s Ministry of Interior Affairs has announced that its security forces have uncovered and confiscated a large cache of weapons and ammunition in Paktia province. According to the ministry, the ammunition was intended to be smuggled from Afghanistan into Pakistan.
The ministry’s press office stated today that during a search operation in the village of Nari China in Dand Patan district, 8,000 rounds of MP bullets, 12 grenade rounds, and 500 DShK machine gun rounds were recovered from a hidden location. The Taliban administration claims that the ammunition was being transported by smugglers through a secure area.
At the same time, officials from the Shahrah Battalion in Pul-e-Khost also discovered and confiscated 5 pistols and 50 rounds of related ammunition during the inspection of a vehicle.
The Taliban’s Ministry of Interior has not released further details regarding any arrests or how the smuggling operation was organized.
