Taliban’s Minister of Refugees Discusses Challenges Facing Migrants in Nangarhar
The Press Office of the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations announced that Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, the minister of this department under the Taliban administration, met with Mawlawi Ghulam-ur-Rahman Haidari, the deputy governor of Nangarhar province, to discuss the situation of migrants and returnees and how to improve services provided to them.
According to a press release published today (Sunday, July 19), the meeting focused on addressing the problems faced by migrants, the manner of delivering services across various areas, and ways to strengthen support for returnees. The deputy governor of Nangarhar put forward proposals to improve the process of tackling migrants’ issues and called for greater attention to their basic needs.
Mawlawi Abdul Kabir emphasized the importance of attending to the affairs of migrants and returnees, stating that the proposals presented would be reviewed and necessary steps would be taken to implement them.
This meeting comes amid ongoing challenges faced by many returning migrants in eastern provinces, including Nangarhar, such as shelter shortages, lack of job opportunities, and limited access to basic services. Despite repeated promises by Taliban officials, numerous residents and local organizations have consistently stressed the need for practical action and transparent accountability regarding the migrants’ situation.
