Afghan Deputy Minister Stresses Regulation of Tourism Companies

Mawlawi Qudratullah Jamal, Deputy Minister of Finance, Administration, and Tourism at the Taliban-led Ministry of Information and Culture, emphasized the need for order in the operations of tourism companies during a meeting with officials from central and provincial tourism firms. He insisted that these companies must have an official office and address. Jamal warned that companies operating without a formal address would face legal consequences.
According to Bakhtar News Agency, in this meeting, tourism company officials shared their proposals and work-related challenges with ministry leadership and called for their concerns to be addressed. These companies provide various tourism services and constitute a part of the country’s emerging tourism market.
The deputy minister pledged that the proposals would be reviewed and that the ministry would cooperate to improve tourism company activities. However, industry actors have previously demanded clear frameworks, administrative facilities, and a reduction of unnecessary restrictions—issues seen as crucial to directly boosting the growth of the tourism sector.
Jamal also stressed regulating the activities of tourism companies, especially online ones, stating that establishing order and official registration of these entities are essential for providing better services to tourists. In recent years, the tourism industry has faced various challenges, and many stakeholders consider regulatory stability and practical support fundamental for the sector’s development.
