Two New Child Malnutrition Treatment Centers Open in Helmand Province

The Helmand Public Health Directorate has announced the completion and inauguration of two new units dedicated to treating children suffering from malnutrition in the districts of Garmsir and Washir. These centers were established with financial support from the United Nations Fund Office and are now providing health services to residents of these areas.
According to the directorate’s newsletter, the buildings have been fully equipped with all necessary facilities and constructed at a cost of 3.7 million Afghanis. Officials stated that these units have been designed to meet standards ensuring effective diagnosis and treatment of children affected by malnutrition.
The Helmand Public Health Directorate stated that the objective of creating these centers is to offer standard health services, continuous care, and improved attention to vulnerable children. With the launch of these units, families in the Garmsir and Washir districts will have easier access to medical services related to malnutrition treatment.
Helmand is one of the provinces where many residents have faced economic difficulties and shortages of health services in recent years. Experts consistently emphasize that expanding malnutrition treatment services at the district level can help prevent increased child mortality. However, sustaining such services requires transparent planning, effective management by the Taliban administration, and ongoing cooperation from humanitarian organizations.
