Fourth India-Afghanistan Joint Committee Meeting Held in New Delhi

India’s Ministry of External Affairs announced that the fourth round of the India-Afghanistan Joint Committee meeting was held today, Thursday, in New Delhi. The meeting was co-chaired by Anand Prakash, Head of the Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran Division at India’s Ministry of External Affairs, and Shoaib Bryali, First Political Secretary of the Taliban’s Foreign Ministry.

Randeep Goyal, spokesperson for India’s Ministry of External Affairs, wrote on the social media platform X that during this round of talks, both sides discussed and exchanged views on all aspects of bilateral relations between India and Afghanistan.

Further details on the specific topics of the discussions have not been released. However, this meeting takes place while the Taliban administration remains unrecognized by many countries and Afghanistan’s diplomatic relations with the world remain complicated. Nevertheless, New Delhi has maintained working contacts with Taliban officials in recent years to pursue political, economic, and humanitarian issues.
