Taliban Agriculture Minister Travels to India to Expand Bilateral Cooperation

Mawlawi Attaullah Omari, the Taliban administration’s Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock, has headed a high-level delegation to India to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation between Kabul and New Delhi.

The Taliban’s Ministry of Agriculture stated that the purpose of this visit is to develop and strengthen cooperation in various agricultural sectors between the two sides. This trip comes at a time when the agricultural sector is one of the fundamental pillars of Afghanistan’s economy, supporting the livelihood of a large portion of the country’s population.

According to released information, Mr. Omari is expected during this visit to meet with Indian officials to discuss agricultural relations, exchange of expertise, adoption of modern technologies, and the expansion of agricultural product exports and imports.

India has played a role in several development and agricultural projects in Afghanistan in recent years, and the Taliban administration is now seeking to revive its economic and technical relations with regional countries, including India, across various sectors.
