Funeral Prayer Held for Martyr Ayatollah Khamenei and Family Members in Tehran

The official funeral prayer for the pure body of the martyr and mujahid Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and four members of his family was held on Sunday morning, July 5, at the Imam Khomeini Prayer Hall in Tehran. The ceremony began at 8 a.m. with a large turnout of people and high-ranking officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Ayatollah Jafar Sobhani led the funeral prayer in front of a vast crowd of mourners, national and military officials, commanders of the armed forces, religious scholars, families of martyrs, political and religious figures, as well as foreign delegations.
According to reports, the prayers were conducted in three separate sessions: the first over the body of Ayatollah Khamenei, the second for the martyrs Seyyedeh Bushra Hosseini Khamenei, Martyr Mesbah al-Hadi Bagheri, and Martyr Zahra Haddad Adel, and the third for Zahra Mohammadi Golpayegani, the granddaughter of the martyred leader.
It was noted that, alongside the main ceremony in the prayer hall, the roads and surrounding areas leading to the venue were filled with worshippers, with some participants performing the prayer outside due to the crowd congestion.
The farewell ceremony for the martyred leader, who was killed on February 28, 2026, in an attack described by Iranian media as “terrorist,” began on Saturday morning, July 4, at the large Imam Khomeini Prayer Hall, and is set to continue until the Maghrib call to prayer on Sunday evening.
