Taliban and Russia Hold Second Round of Political Consultations in Kabul

The second round of political consultations between the Taliban administration’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs was held in Kabul at the level of department heads. In the meeting, both sides emphasized the development of bilateral relations, the increase of economic cooperation, and the continuation of political coordination.

Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal, Deputy Spokesperson of the Taliban administration’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the Afghan delegation was led by Abdul Hai Qanat, the third political head of the ministry, while the Russian delegation was led by Alexey Pavlovsky, Head of the Second Asia Department at Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the provided information, the meeting discussed expanding bilateral relations, the latest political developments at regional and global levels, as well as issues related to regional stability and security. Both sides also emphasized increasing trade volume, providing investment opportunities, and creating practical cooperation frameworks to activate transit corridors and transportation.

Furthermore, cooperation within regional and international organizations, strengthening regional connectivity, and other topics of mutual interest were reviewed. Both delegations agreed that political coordination and consultations between Kabul and Moscow would continue regularly.

Based on the agreement reached, the third round of these political consultations is scheduled to be held in Moscow with the consent of both parties.
