Putin Sends Message to Trump on 250th Anniversary of US Independence

Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, sent a message to Donald Trump, President of the United States, on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of American independence. In his message, Putin stated that Moscow and Washington, as two major nuclear powers, bear a special responsibility for ensuring global security and stability.
Tass news agency reported on Saturday, July 4, that Putin congratulated his American counterpart on the anniversary of US independence. According to the report, the Russian president emphasized the historic role of the two countries in global developments.
Putin recalled that the United States and Russia, as allies during the two world wars, played a part in defeating Nazism, and that this historical experience could serve as a basis for future cooperation. He stressed that establishing “constructive, fair, and mutually beneficial” relations between Moscow and Washington would not only be in the interest of the peoples of both countries but also beneficial to the international community.
Relations between Russia and the United States, as well as Western European countries, have been marked by serious tensions over the past four years following Moscow’s attack on Ukraine. Nevertheless, the Kremlin’s latest message is seen as a sign of emphasis on dialogue and responsible management of relations between the two nuclear powers.
