The Department of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock in Ghor province has announced the expansion of vegetable greenhouse development, with currently 120 large and small greenhouses operating across various areas. According to the department, these greenhouses produce a variety of vegetables which are supplied to local markets.
Ziaul Haq Joya, the press officer for the Department of Agriculture in Ghor, stated that about 500 farmers are currently engaged in cultivating crops such as okra, Roma eggplant, black eggplant, okra, mint, red radish, and coriander in these greenhouses. He added that this process has grown in recent years, providing employment opportunities for some local residents.
He further noted that guidance and technical programs aimed at improving the quality and increasing the yields of greenhouses continue in the provincial center and districts of Ghor. These programs are undertaken to strengthen domestic production and improve the economic situation of farmers.
Meanwhile, several greenhouse operators in Ghor have expressed satisfaction with the support from the Department of Agriculture and have called for the continuation of these collaborations and the organization of more capacity-building programs in greenhouse farming. They believe that expanding technical training can help enhance product quality and increase farmers’ incomes.
