Taliban’s Mullah Baradar and Kazakh Deputy PM Discuss Economic Cooperation and Banking in Afghanistan

Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Taliban administration, met in Kabul with Serik Zhumangarin, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan, to discuss the expansion of bilateral economic cooperation. The talks focused on enhancing trade, banking cooperation, mining extraction, and infrastructure projects.
During the meeting, Baradar emphasized the importance of high-level official visits between the two countries to strengthen economic relations and stressed the continuation of official interactions. He stated that such exchanges could pave the way for increased trade and investment.
In response, Zhumangarin announced that Kazakhstan is ready to subsidize the transportation costs of exporting flour to the city of Herat. He also revealed plans to establish a sales center for Kazakh medicines and to set up a Kazakh Chamber of Commerce in Kabul.
According to the Kazakh official, Astana is prepared to open bank accounts in Da Afghanistan Bank and one private Afghan bank to facilitate financial transactions. Other topics discussed included cooperation in surveying and mining, especially chromite and gypsum, support for chemical fertilizer production, and participation in constructing the Mazar-i-Sharif–Herat–Kandahar–Spin Boldak railway network.
