Domestic and International Officials Visit Samdara Canal in Badakhshan

The Head of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock of Badakhshan province, accompanied by the European Union Ambassador to Afghanistan and several officials from international organizations, visited an agricultural canal in the Samdara area of the province.

The visit was also attended by the Head of the United Nations Food Program office and the Head of the Economy department of Badakhshan, who closely examined the ongoing activities and the condition of the canal. The purpose of the visit was to assess the management of water resources and their impact on the region’s agricultural lands.

The Samdara canal is a vital water source for the residents of the area and plays a fundamental role in irrigating farmland and boosting local production. Badakhshan is one of Afghanistan’s mountainous provinces, where the economy of a large portion of its residents depends predominantly on agriculture and livestock.

The participating officials emphasized continuing cooperation to improve agricultural infrastructure and support farmers, a crucial sector for the economic stability of rural families.
