Twelve Low-Quality Fuel Tankers Returned from Aqina Port to Turkmenistan

Local officials in Faryab have announced that 12 low-quality fuel tankers were returned to Turkmenistan after inspection at Aqina Port. According to them, these tankers were denied entry into domestic markets for failing to meet required standards.
According to a statement issued by the Faryab provincial authority, the quality of these shipments was assessed by an appointed committee and found to be below established standards. Consequently, a decision was made to return them in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.
This action was carried out under the supervision of Mullah Mohammad Hanif Hamzo, the Taliban-appointed governor of Faryab, in cooperation with relevant administrative departments. Officials stated that the testing and quality assessment process was conducted in coordination with concerned entities, and the final decision was implemented based on existing laws.
Local authorities emphasized that quality control over petroleum products at Aqina Port and other border crossings will continue to prevent the entry of substandard goods. However, further details regarding testing criteria, transparency of the review process, and public notification methods remain unavailable—issues consistently raised by traders and consumers.
Traders have also been urged to comply with established standards during imports to avoid legal problems. In recent years, the Taliban administration has reported increased oversight of petroleum imports at the country’s ports.
