The Herat municipality has announced the commencement of construction on a pedestrian underpass along with a commercial-medical complex in front of Herat’s Hwozavi Hospital. According to the municipality, the project is funded with approximately 38 million Afghanis from Herat municipality’s development budget.
The Herat municipality press office stated in a news release that the project is designed over an area of 2,500 square meters and includes two underground levels (basement one and two). Officials said the purpose of the project is to address the needs of the city’s residents, especially patients and visitors of Hwozavi Hospital.
According to the information provided, the complex will feature standard parking spaces, equipped pharmacies, and specialized medical examination centers. It is said that these facilities could alleviate some of the existing problems in the area.
Municipality officials added that the main goal of the project is to facilitate traffic flow, reduce congestion, and improve access for patients and their companions to medical services. They expressed hope that upon completion of this plan, traffic order will improve in one of the busiest areas of Herat city and create opportunities for expanding commercial activities and providing quality medical services.
