Ghazi Province Bans Sale and Use of Firecrackers Amid Safety Concerns

The Ghazni Police Command announced that, following a joint meeting led by the provincial leadership, the purchase, sale, and use of firecrackers have been completely banned throughout the province. Violators will face legal prosecution.
Abu Khalid Sarhadi, spokesperson for the Ghazni Police Command, stated that all security forces have been instructed to prevent the use and trade of firecrackers in the provincial center and districts, and to arrest those who break the law. He also urged citizens to strictly refrain from bringing in, buying, selling, or using firecrackers and warned that no complaints will be accepted once this decision is enforced.
In recent years, the use of firecrackers during various celebrations and events in some parts of the country has caused fear among the public and led to injuries, particularly among children and young people. Previously, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce had declared that the import, production, and use of firecrackers is prohibited; however, reports indicate that these items are still being sold in some markets, raising questions about the supervision and effective enforcement of these bans under the Taliban administration.
Several residents of Ghazni have welcomed the decision, considering it a step toward ensuring public order. Fakhruddin, a resident of Ghazni city, said that many times, children and young people are injured in the name of joy and celebration, and people live in fear and anxiety.
Another resident, Hasan, emphasized the critical importance of the strict implementation of this decision. He added that if the ban remains merely an announcement without practical enforcement, past problems will continue. Citizens have called on responsible authorities not to show indifference toward violators so that the use of firecrackers in ceremonies and occasions can be completely stopped.
