Indian Ambassador Highlights New Trade Opportunities Through BRICS Expansion

The Indian ambassador to Russia stated that expanding trade relations within the BRICS group, amid pressures on global supply chains, can create new and significant opportunities for all member countries. He emphasized that such cooperation further strengthens economic ties among emerging economies.
Vinay Kumar told the RIA Novosti news agency that India currently holds the BRICS rotating presidency this year. According to him, over 150 meetings and events involving representatives from all member countries have been held in the first five months of 2026.
BRICS is an intergovernmental coalition of emerging economic powers aimed at enhancing commercial, financial, and political cooperation among developing countries. The group encompasses a large portion of the world’s population and holds a substantial share of the global gross domestic product.
