Israel Threatens to Expand Military Strikes to Beirut’s Southern Suburb of Dahieh

Israeli Defense Minister has announced that if attacks on northern Israel do not cease in the coming days, the Israeli military will extend its operations to the southern Beirut suburb of Dahieh. He stated that it will soon become clear whether these attacks will continue, but if they do, a military response targeting Dahieh will be carried out.
According to Al Jazeera, Israel Katz claimed that Washington has agreed to Israel’s proposal to respond to northern attacks by targeting Dahieh. He added that this position has also been communicated to the Lebanese government.
Katz emphasized that Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon will continue under all circumstances. He also mentioned that the army is considering launching further operations within Lebanese territory.
The Israeli Defense Minister described the long-term goal of these actions as disarming Hezbollah, with the nearer objective being the collection of weapons from areas south of the Litani River—a region Israel claims to control. These statements come amid ongoing tensions along Israel’s northern borders and southern Lebanon.
