Protest in Nuristan After Local Farmer Fatally Shot

Residents of Nuristan province protested in Parun, the provincial capital, after a local farmer was fatally shot. The demonstrators carried the body of the deceased to the provincial center and gathered in front of the Taliban administration building, demanding a thorough investigation and clarification of the incident.

According to local sources, the man, named Zain-ul-Islam, was from the Ishtivi area in central Nuristan. He was shot and killed two days ago in a field near his home while working as a farmer. He was a well-known local resident.

Sources stated that the shooters were “tourists,” but the exact identity and motives of the assailants remain unclear. Official explanations about how the shooting occurred have not been provided.

The Taliban administration earlier announced that three individuals had been arrested in connection with the case. However, local residents emphasized that arrests alone are insufficient; they called for transparent sharing of investigation results to alleviate security concerns in rural areas.
