Taliban’s Minister of Refugees Stresses Coordination Between Authorities and People

Maulvi Abdul Kabir, the Taliban administration’s Minister of Refugees and Repatriations, during a meeting with members of the cabinet, government officials, provincial governors, military commanders, political figures, and tribal elders, emphasized strengthening coordination between government institutions and the people and addressing the problems faced by refugees.

According to a newsletter published by the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations, the meeting included Eid congratulations and discussions on the status of refugees, ways to reinforce cooperation among departments, and challenges faced by Afghans returning to the country.

The Taliban’s Minister of Refugees described serving refugees and returnees as a shared responsibility of all government departments, stating that without alignment and practical cooperation between institutions, solving the problems of this group is not possible.

Participants also appreciated the efforts of the Ministry’s leadership and stressed facilitating the return of refugees and resolving their issues.

However, while coordination and cooperation are emphasized, many returnees across various regions of the country face shortages of shelter, basic services, and job opportunities—issues that require concrete actions and transparent accountability from the Taliban administration toward the people.
