Taliban Finance Ministry Seizes 22 Tons of Medicine and 1,750 Kg of Narcotics Across Several Provinces

The Taliban’s Ministry of Finance has announced that over the past two weeks, a significant amount of smuggled goods, including more than 22 tons of medical supplies and approximately 1,750 kilograms of narcotics, were discovered and confiscated in the provinces of Kandahar, Nimroz, Nangarhar, and Helmand.
In a statement released today (May 24), the ministry said that mobile monitoring teams affiliated with the General Directorate of Customs were able to identify these goods during separate operations. According to the ministry, smugglers attempted to illegally bring these commodities into the country without paying customs duties.
Besides medical supplies, thousands of kilograms of new and used clothing, rice, construction paint, various fabric pieces, agricultural materials, cosmetics, and food items were among the confiscated goods.
The Taliban’s Ministry of Finance added that customs monitoring forces will continue similar operations at border crossings and transit routes to prevent smuggling and increase national revenue. The ministry also emphasized that legal action will be taken against smugglers and those who refuse to pay customs duties.
