Taliban Orders Passengers to Deliver Eid Message Abroad, Claiming Rights Protection

Local sources at Kabul airport have told media outlets that Taliban forces have instructed some departing passengers to carry and deliver Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada’s Eid message to Afghans living abroad.

According to these sources, this directive comes amid increasing travel of citizens holding European and American nationalities to and from Afghanistan. These individuals are visiting the country to see their families following the Taliban’s halt of armed attacks and explosions. Most international flights from Kabul airport operate to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, and Iran.

In his Eid message, Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada claimed that under Taliban rule, the rights of all citizens have been ensured and the principle of “enjoining good and forbidding wrong” is being implemented in society. He stated, “Under the Sharia system, peaceful life has been achieved, and the religious rights of all citizens are provided for and protected; no one can oppress another.”

This is despite the fact that residents of Afghanistan under Taliban rule face severe social and political restrictions. Millions of women and girls are deprived of the right to education and employment, and numerous reports indicate rising poverty and hunger across the country. Despite this situation, the Taliban leader continues to speak of the full implementation of Islamic Sharia and the protection of citizens’ rights—claims that do not align with the daily realities experienced by many people.
