Land Distributed to Over 9,000 Returning Families Across Afghanistan

The Permanent Housing and Land Distribution Committee announced that in the past week, residential land has been distributed to 9,352 returning families in various provinces of the country. This initiative is part of the Taliban administration’s program to resettle families who have returned after years of displacement.
Mullah Hamdullah Fetrat, Deputy Spokesperson for the Taliban administration, stated that among them, 3,270 families in Nangarhar province, 1,260 families in Laghman, and 960 families in Zabul have received land. He added that hundreds of additional plots have also been allocated to returning families in Farah, Bamyan, Sar-e-Pul, Samangan, Balkh, Kunduz, and Ghazni provinces.
Fetrat further noted that, so far, a total of 18,904 returning families nationwide have been granted residential land, and this process is ongoing.
However, no details have been provided regarding the exact locations of the distributed areas, the quality of basic services such as water, electricity, and roads, or the transparent criteria used to select beneficiaries. This lack of information has previously been highlighted by some returnees as a fundamental challenge in the resettlement process. Many returning families emphasize that access to essential services and employment opportunities is crucial for their sustainable settlement in new areas.
